$150 Seats

Monday, February 2, 2004

Is it bad or wrong or somehow evil that, while text messaging, I get a sort of perverse thrill from teaching my cellphone a new word -- like "douchebag"?

Also: Hey! Hi! I'm back! Hee.

Back from my honeymoon, back from my wedding, back from my wedding party, back from the brink of extinction. Okay, not really from the brink, or really from extinction, but, back. You know -- back, in general.

Can someone tell me just how the hell you possibly approach writing about something so large, so monumental, so incredibly perfect that you would easily qualify it as the best 2 weeks of your life? Well, yeah, it's hard to do. It's daunting. It could account for months upon months of not writing, I think. Hee. Maybe.

So right now it's snowing here. A lot. About half a foot yesterday, and at least 3-5 more inches today. It makes driving fun, I'll give it that. You never know if the other person is gonna be able to, oh, stay in their lane while their cell phone is glued to their head and they're swerving back and forth like "I don't know what to do!" Hey! Here's a thought: try putting both hands on the wheel? I dunno, just a thought. 10 and 2, Minnesotans. 10 and 2.

Yesterday, Lins and I were at the nationally televised matchup between our Minnesota Timberwolves and the Philly 76ers. Lins and I had, um, teriffic seats. Hee. I mean, we started out with pretty good seats, but through shrewd planning, some acting, and a good deal of luck, we ended up at center court, Row D, seats 1 and 2. Ha. Best. Seats. Ever. We got to watch our favorite team (it has been for years, soon-to-be-bandwagoners! We love them more! They're OUR Timberwolves!) come back and put the smack on Philly. We were down 18 in the first half, but locked them down and came back to win -- and Lins and I were close enough to see faces -- faces! It was awesome. Lins was bouncing up and down in her seat and I was playing it coooooool. Very coool. Our tickets? $20 each. Our actual seats? $150 each. Hate to brag, but Lins and I? We rock.

So, things are good right now. I hate to complain, but, you know -- *points to self*. It's what I do. You'd never guess, but it's hard to fully readjust to "regular" life after 2 weeks in paradise, where the only thing you gotta worry about is "do I have enough sunscreen on?" or "will the sharks eat me?" or "what time do we go whale watching?". I feel like I had a lot of things figured out before we left... and when we got back, it was kind of like starting over, really. So it was hard, at first, but it's taken me a long time to get back into the swing of things. I feel like I'm pretty close to where I was, if that makes sense. Hee. You know, only 4 months later. Hee. What can I say -- island life really suited me.

I've got a Bora Bora section of my site in the works. It's got all the vacation photos and a little bit of story telling. It's just a matter of finishing up the story telling -- via the captions for the 100+ photos. All the things I never told you about Bora Bora? They'll be there. Not really. But there will be a lot of neat stuff. Neat? I bet you're hooked now!

Lins and I just launched our first joint-freelance project, J. Mac's Autos. I think it's a cute little site. Go, check it out, you classic car lover, you.

I mean, I'm sure there are more funny (and relevant) things to tell you, but damn... Just getting started. I'll try to keep more up to date from now on. Speaking of, I'm about a month behind on posting photos, so bear with me as I attempt to catch up. Anyway, thanks for sticking with me. Love you!
