THE Date!

Wednesday, July 23, 2003

When I was in junior high, a teacher asked me "if you didn't have to worry about money and could do whatever you wanted for a week, what would it be?" I thought about it for a second, then sagely replied "Go to Hawaii and learn to surf." We were both impressed with the sheer quality of the response. Just a quality, quality response from such a young lad. So my junior high dream was to go to Hawaii and learn to surf.

Turns out -- I get to live that dream, only, you know, only better!!! What my feeble (yet sage) junior high mind didn't know is this: Hawaii is 100% unfiltered crap compared to Bora Bora. So nowadays, my "dream" answer would go a little something like this (hit it!): "I would like to go to Bora Bora with an extremely hot chick (who is also the great love of my life), marry that hot chick on the beach, honeymoon, play board games on the beach, hang out and soak in the beautiful lagoons, swim with the dolphins, feed the sharks, hike around, take thousands of photos and, yes, learn to surf."

And you know what the best thing is? I actually get to do it! And for 12 days! 12 days!!! Thanks to the generosity of her parents, Lindsay and I are all booked and paid for and we are going to Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea at the end of September for the vacation of a lifetime. And oh, does it ever make me happy. In fact, I've got to find a way to wipe the goofy-ass grin off my face before people around here start to wonder what I have been up to.

Also, we actually have THE DATE for our wedding reception! Yay! Yay for me, yay for you. Yay for just about everyone, really. Here they are, fine friends, family and assorted other passerbys:

October 11th, 2003.
Des Moines, IA.
Tursi's Latin King Restaurant.
Noon - 5pm.

We are working on the invites and should have them out to y'all shortly. We'll have a kickass DJ (DJ Jake Rudh!) spinning some nice tunes, too. (Possible thanks to my Mom and Dad -- Thank you!)

Looking to buy us something? Why thank you, kind person! So far we are registered at Target and Amazon.com. More places to come, I'm sure! (Psst. If you want to buy a lil something for just me, I'd love some Zihr products. Hee. Specifically anything in the Spa Kit (Dad must be proud right about now), Prepare, Shave Gel, and, you know, whatever else from there. All good stuff. Anyway, back to the other stuff now!)

So there you have it! Our actual wedding ceremony will be on Bora Bora on September 24th -- Lins and my 9 year anniversary. Since the Bora Bora ceremony is not legally recognized in the states, my buddy Rev. Sour will come over sometime and sign the actual wedding certificate, we'll sign the certificate, date it Sept 24th, and that'll be that. So there will be only one actual ceremony. That makes us happy. Happy happy happy happy. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy!
Eric
