Burnout

Thursday, December 12, 2002

Every weeknight during the holiday season, from the time Lins gets home to the time she goes to bed, she's working on sculptures. The girl is working all day -- every day. I don't know how she does it.

The thing is -- she doesn't really get burnt out. If she does, she certainly doesn't show it. I, on the other hand, do -- I get burnt out for her and it stresses her out, which stresses me out... Basically, I just miss being able to do things with her. Go to a movie, go out to dinner... you know... the good things. I miss the little good things.

So my life is a little boring right now. Not that I'm overly worried about that. I mean, I could go do stuff if I wanted to, but for whatever reason, I just don't put the effort into entertaining myself much right now.

Speaking of entertaining: Lins grabbed her old school 8-bit Nintendo console during Thanksgiving. We couldn't find any of the wires or controllers, though, so Lins promptly eBay-d all the necessary wires, controllers and the gun (Hee -- I love the gun). We got the wires in the mail the other day, hooked everything up... and the Nintendo is pooped out. Damn. It was picky when we last had it, too. You'd half to spend about a half hour trying to get the cartridge in juuust the right spot so that the game would load. Now we can't get the games to load at all, so we'll probably just have to buy a new console. We're both in the process of watching eBay for all the games that we used to love that we want again. I'm looking for Tecmo Bowl and Mike Tyson's Punchout right now...

So the Nintendo gets hooked up to the good 32 inch TV, while the XBox is relegated to 21 inch TV land in the Den of the Future. Hee. Priorities!

We decided that the XBox is better suited for the upstairs because when we both hang out in the Den, it's really cozy and fun -- also when just I hang out in the Den, I can be closer to her while she's sculpting in her craft room (just down the hall!) and I'm playing video games. Also: *gag*. That's way too saccharine. Sorry about that.

XBox games: Lins and I would are both extremely excited to get our hands on Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid 2. We're waiting til after XMas, though, before we buy either one. They're both on my XMas list, and, if we don't get them for that, they might just go on sale after... So in these types of games, Lins is the brain, I'm the brawn. It's hella fun when we've got a game that we're both into. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer game was most certainly like that. Very good times. We ended up renting it 4 times before we finally finished it. Now I'm considering buying it, just because it was an insanely fun game and the fighting was really super well done.

Well now. Thanks for stopping by!
