F to the World!

Monday, June 17, 2002

Here's your reminder that I use bad language from time to time.
The world can fuck off!

We know how to play soccer now, bitches!

We take over every other sport and every other thing that matters and you knew, world, you knew that someday America would take a step or 3 forward in soccer, your worldy-ass just knew that someday America would make some stank in the World Cup.

And last night we did just that. Made some stank. Against Mexico. In the round of 16. At the World Cup.

And world, I stayed up late to watch it. And I'm glad I did.

A 2-0 win against the goading Mexico squad was terrific. I was so pumped that I was standing up watching the last 25 minutes of the match.

Watching Luis Hernandez dive over and over and over again and finally getting a yellow card -- I was so happy when he finally got one. Seeing Cuhcahclachlladhloc Blanco trying to get Pablo Mastroeni into a fight -- at one point he was standing over him with balled up fists -- man... intense.

The 2 plays where we got goals were both beautiful tries. I'm so happy that the US got their chances and converted. Landon Donovan and Brian McBride were terrific with their chances on the counterattacks. Tony Sanneh was so incredibly important in defense. Big play after big play for him. Brad Friedel came up with some tremendous saves, too.

Oh, and we won't be talking about John O'Brien's hand ball, either. Didn't happen?
On Father's Day, one is supposed to call one's father, if said father lives 3 hours away and one cannot visit in person.

What time should one call one's father?

The answer, dear friend? Not after 10pm.

Sorry to wake you, Dad. In case you don't remember I called, here it is again: Happy Father's Day!
One of the coolest things that I've ever done? Looking at engagement rings with Lindsay ranks right up there. Friday afternoon, we went on down to Wixon Jewelers and checked out rings for her and rings for me. And we both found ones that were perfect for us.

... and guess what? Mine is twice as much as hers. Damn. I always have that expensive taste. My Ring of the Future™ is all platinum and heavy. Very nice. Her Ring of the Future™ is antique and very nice. Did I mention very nice yet? Her ring has lots and lots of sparklies and good quality diamonds and all. We're going to buy her ring at the end of this week, especially since it's one of a kind and all. I'm so excited for her to be able to show it off. Mine can wait, though.

I'm so excited to wear it though. It's going to be hard to wait until we get married.

Then I'm excited for Bora Bora, too. Tomorrow night, Lins and I are meeting a travel agent to talk all about it. Should be a good time.

Then we're closing our refinance and home equity this Thursday.

We're also nearly done painting the Bedroom of the Future™, too.

You know, I've been listening to Kid A a lot lately, too. Everything... in it's right place.

I love it when things feel like they're starting to come together, Charlie. Startin' to come together. Oops. That's a Major League quote.

So that whole depression thing? Yeah. Not right now. Not at all.

Star Wars tonight? God I hope so. I still haven't seen it yet. Good lord, man.

Talk to you later,
Eric

You know I love you, so please don't steal.
Big thanks to SiteMeter for the, um, site meter.
Also: big thanks to my parents.
I'm happy to be here! Thanks Mom & Dad!
