Drenched

Thursday, May 30, 2002

Hey all! Eric uses bad words (again). Reader discrection is advised (like normal)
4 games of 21. One game of 4 on 4 fullcourt followed by 3 games of 3 on 3 halfcourt. That, y'all, is a lot of basketball. I played for 3 straight hours last night. Woo hah!

...and Uh, oh. I'm starting to think I'm fairly good again. Hee.

Especially when I can shut off my mind, I'm good. Really good. When I think about anything I'm doing, I sputter off into mind-fuckville, where I'm the Deputy Mayor. This happens pretty badly during fullcourt games.

For instance, last night I was draining shot after shot after shot from the land of 3 pointers -- until I (stupidly) mentioned that I hadn't missed one yet. Then I missed the next 4 or so.

I'm intentionally trying so much harder, too. I want to play defense and play it well. So I'm hustling, I'm running, I'm trying my ass off. It's so mental. I'll start to think I'm tired, then I'll realize that that's just me trying to get me to slow down for the sake of not working too hard -- I'm not actually tired, so I can fight through that, which I did last night.

Need to work on? I need to work on my basketball knowledge, America. I have no idea how to post up, which sucks because I'm usually one of the stronger dudes on the court. I also need to work on finishing on fast breaks -- I blew 2 easy layups in the 4 on 4 game. Ouchnick.

Otherwise things are feeling good... Oh so very good.

I played to my strengths much better than I had been. I dropped in some nice fadeaways, I took the ball to the hole pretty well and I nailed a some nice long shots. I nail pretty much every shot if there's a hand in my face, which means I'm going off instinct and not thinking -- a good thing, for sure.

It's supposed to be 90° outside today. Guess where I'm going after work again?

Well, actually, if you said "Hiawatha Park?", you'd be wrong. Dead wrong. Maybe too wrong to be my friend anymore. We'll see about that, though.

While I'd love to be there hooping it up until the sun goes down again, I'm going to be driving to Iowa with Lins and the dogs tonight. A couple of our really good friends are getting married in Iowa City on Saturday. Lins is in the wedding and I'll be drinking up all the yummy free alcohol, so that's where I'll be.

Iowa Highway Patrol aside, should be a fun time.

That means there won't be a new post tomorrow either. Believe me, I feel awful about that.

Or... or do I?
Link time! Yay! All the kids can come up now and gather around, while I kick the links out for y'all.

Here's an article on Klay9Kreations. Cool. So very cool.

Do you like Six Feet Under? Well, motherfuckers, so do I -- So Do I, God Damn it! Here's a feature about Alan Ball and here's a feature on Lauren Ambrose (there isn't a permanent link for the article, so you might need to scroll down to see it).

Don't say I don't ever love you back. Cause I did right there. I did.

Because I love you. Back.

Who's your favorite guy named Eric? Who? C'mon now!
Stories from the 3 day weekend, Stories from the Me, Volume 2 will be written at a later date. Or perhaps never. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for stopping by and all that! I love you all! Good night!
Eric
