The Scenario

Monday, May 13, 2002

Well it's Monday and everything in my world is pretty much back to normal now. Lindsay is back. Warm fuzzies all around.

It's always weird to see someone again for the first time after 3 or 4 days of not seeing them. You forget things about the person you love so much. You take things for granted. Seeing Lindsay at the airport again for the first time -- and realizing that I'm going to marry her on Bora Bora and have a 2 week honeymoon thereabouts -- Wow. I am lucky. Very lucky.

Since Lins and I are going to get married the way we are -- it's going to be significantly less expensive than her other 2 sister's weddings -- Lins' parents offered to buy us new appliances for our house! Kick ass! Lins' parent's rock!

So we'll be looking at new stoves and washers and dryers very soon. Very very soon -- our current washer and dryer set are so rigged that it's actually kind of funny. Plus they're from 1970 or so.

We've also got the green light from them to proceed with the wedding stuff whenever we want to. Bora. Bora.

Yum.

Did I show you the overwater bungalows? How about the view from inside the bungalows?

It makes me all tingly just thinking of spending 2 weeks in a place like that with the girl I love.

I can't wait to go.
Hey! Eric! Lindsay was gone this weekend... What did you do? How astute of you to remember that she was gone, friend!

On Friday, I got to cross off 2 things of my important To Do list -- Finally!

1) I went to the Spider-Man movie. Ah yeah. It was awesome. I went to the 10:15pm movie completely solo. Being alone wasn't as awkward or weird as I'd expected -- I may even do it again sometime, actually. Alone, everything felt a bit more raw, which I liked.

I went to the new Southdale 16 theatres. Tres nice. Big screen, comfy comfy stadium-style seats, nice sound, not too many stupid talking-during-the-movie people. I'd have to say it's my favorite theatre in the Twin Cities right now.

After the movie, I drove the half hour to Maple Grove to...

2) hit the Krispy Kreme store. Cha Ching! It was packed. The line wasn't as long as I'd seen, but still. It's 1 in the morning and the drive-thru line goes all the way out their parking lot. So I went into the lobby, where the wait was closer to 10 minutes. I got a warm fresh dozen.

Yum.

Good lord, yum. I love me some Krispy Kremes, I'll tell you that much. Still, today, 3 days later, there are 5 still begging to be eaten. I will oblige, my fried doughy friends. I will oblige.

On Saturday, I hooked up with my buddies Kristi and Kate, the K&K Connection. They knew of some house parties and I didn't feel like being a loner for the 3rd straight night.

At K&K's, I won an eBay auction with my patented Ambush Bid™ technology. It was for this kickass couch -- it will live in my den. Perfect-o! The price was at $50 when I put my $100 proxy bid in with 8 seconds left to go. I won the auction with a $51 bid. Sweet!

K&K and I watched Trading Spaces, then listened to music and played drinking card games while Singing in the Rain was on the TV with all it's technicolor goodness. Fun times. We were all in pretty good moods, so I could tell it would be a fun night. Before we left for the parties, we caught the very beginning of SNL (which I forgot to tape -- ideeyot-a!) then took off.

I promptly slipped down an entire flight of rain-covered wooden stairs. I've got the scrapes to prove it, too, baby.

The parties were pretty fun, mostly because we were all in goofy-fun moods. The first party was pretty low-key. People sitting around drinking (including me!) and smoking waaay too many cigarettes (not me! I don't!). The second party was more fun, but I felt so much older. I'm almost 27, right? Most of the people there were probably around 20. They were having all the deep and philosophical conversations that I had at that age. It was like watching an episode of The Real World -- I just couldn't really stomach it. All the what if's and world this and religion that. I enjoyed talking about that shit when I was younger, but I'm past that now, for whatever reason. I think it's kind of funny.

Good times, though. I've got good friends in Kristi and Kate.

Well, friends, I'm all out of shit to talk about for now... love you all,
Eric
