Adventures in Eric-Land

April 9, 2002

I ran to the pet store last night after work. The place is called "For Pet's Sake". (Give it up for great pet store names! Give it up! Sexual Chocolate! Give it up!) The dogs needed food, as they were nearly out.

Lindsay and I spend a ridiculous amount on dog food. Nothing but the best for our babies. Our food of choice for the moment is Solid Gold. It's made by a german company, or so I assume, so sometimes the labels are, how you say?, confusing.

I spotted the bag we had previously purchased... it wasn't the big bag, and it ran out rather quickly, so this time I wanted to get the big bag. I spotted what appeared to be the same version of the bag I'd picked up previously, only larger and more expensive. In order to assure I was paying $40 for the right bag of dogfood, I asked the worker-dude with the voice that was way too deep and booming. Here is the conversation:
"This is the same kind as this other bag, right?"

"Yes it is!" I felt almost as if I was talking to God at this point.

"So this is Solid Gold for Adult dogs, right?"

"Yes, my child!"

"Okay... cool. Thanks. Oh, by the way, what, my dear friend, is the meaning of life?"

"How the hell should I know? I'm just a pet store worker with an astonishingly deep voice and a European sounding name!"

"Right. Good point, that."
Okay... so maybe I'm making up the God stuff there, but really.

Given that the food is smaller, the bag is silver -- looking online, all the puppy stuff seems to be silver and the adult stuff seems to be gold -- and the food itself is a slightly different color than the remaining adult food, Lindsay and I both have come to believe that the food with the confusing label is, in fact, puppy food. Oh, no. Oh Good God, no. Lord, no. Not this. The dogs are both hopped up on puppy food! They're acting like complete and total nutballs! This, friends, can not be a good thing.
I've also got a bit of a problem.

I love shoes.

I can't have too many pairs of shoes. I simply can't. I have a pair of casual shoes -- my campers, a pair of running shoes -- Nike Shox R4 (I knew that off the top of my head -- how sad!), a pair of shiny Wal Mart dress shoes, a pair of Sketchers clogs, some shoes I'm forgetting about and at least 3 pairs of basketball shoes -- 1 year old pair of Silver Adidas' Kobe shoes, a 3 year old pair of Air Jordans, and my newest purchase, the Nike Shox VC (in Black). On Sunday, I found the Shox VC at Footlocker for only $100, regular price is 160 big ones, so I grabbed them right the hell up.

The thing is, I still want more shoes, too. More! More! More! I'm looking online for shoes all the time. I won't rest until I have every different shoe from the Coolest Shop on Earth. I simply won't! Friends, I gotta tell you, the internet is a wonderful thing, isn't it?
Another problem: Video Game Junkie™ (that's me, if you didn't know) realized that the home PC can be used for video games... hmm... This can't be a good thing, can it?
Yet another problem: Lindsay (aka Poxy) is still under house arrest because of her bout with the Cheeken Pox. I feel sorry for her being trapped in the house with the 2 crazed and hopped-up-on-puppy food dogs and with my grumpy and not grumpy ass. Hop on the Eric Rollercoaster! Wheeee! But damn. I'm volunteering to run errands just to get out of the house. It's better, now that it's cleaner from the weekend cleaning, but still. I can't wait for everything to get back to normal. And when it does, I'll have video games and more shoes. Hell yeah!
