Music Stuff

Phantom Planet is playing tonight at the Quest here in Mnpls. I totally want to go, but noone wants to go with me.

Do I go by myself and be the awkward, looming and strangely hypnotic looking 26 year old there that doesn't really talk to anyone... or do I sit this show out? It's at an intimate-ish venue... so maybe this is a cool opportunity to take in some cool music.

But I know I would be much more comfortable if I had people that I know or liked with me -- preferably both. What to do, what to do... Decisions, dilemmas and conundrums. I've got all of them.
Volkswagen is behind the times on one thing. I bought my Beetle in late 1999 and I love almost everything about it... except (you knew that was coming -- admit it.) they don't offer an in-dash CD Player!

They still don't! The only option for folks that like their CD listening is to get a trunk mounted 6 disc changer. I don't want one of those for $500, thank you!

Needless to say, I'm on my 3rd or 4th different portable CD player with Car Adapter hookup... and the current one just stopped working 2 weeks ago. Just stopped. So I've been CD-less for a couple weeks during my commute to-and-fro work and to-and-fro lunches. I've resorted to listening to the (eek!) radio.

First off, The Radio scares me. 35-40 minutes of music an hour. 20 minutes of ads. I don't like these odds.

Thankfully, there are 2 good music-playing radio stations in Mnpls.

The best local station is Radio K, the University of Minnesota's station. Unfortunately, it's AM, so 1) the sound quality sucks and 2) they have to stop broadcasting at sundown. They've been playing yet-to-be-released Weezer, Love Cars and tons of other really good songs. Really eclectic... Really good.

The FM station that I've been liking (it's pretty hit or miss though) is Drive 105. Yesterday morning, they played Dashboard Confessional. That's pretty cool.

Otherwise, I've got jazz and I've got NPR to keep me company.

I miss rocking out to some CDs though. I want an in-dash CD player, damn it!

When I finally get everything in order and buy the VUE, then I'll have one... then... I'll have... one.
March Madness:

Well now, my Final Four is all shot to shit now, isn't it? Duke and UCLA are Audi 5000. If I were Maryland or Illinois, I'd be ducking and covering right about now. It doesn't look good for you. Duck. Then cover.

Last night Indiana beat Duke! I traditionally hate both teams, but I hate Indiana so much less than I hate Duke! I was pulling for Indiana last night, boy. I watched a majority of this game and it doesn't seem at all like Indiana is a better team. They just hung in there, kept it close, and somehow grabbed it at the end. I think they got a large amount of the calls from the officials, though. Maybe Duke got screwed? Maybe I'm just glad that they've been bounced from the tourney. The Number One team in the nation going into the tourney never wins.

Did you see Mike Davis after an Indiana player fouled Jason Williams on that 3 at the end of the game? Wow... Pure comedy. He screamed "What the fuck are you doing!?" flung around and threw his face into his chair. I'm still giggling now. I can't believe that Williams didn't hit the free throw to send it to OT and have Duke eventually win.

Also last night: the officials tried to bury Kent State. Kent State wasn't having it. I like that they (10 seed) beat Pitt (2 seed). I dig that. Go underdogs!

Looking forward to Illinois/Kansas tonight... should be a great one.

I love the NCAA Tournament.
Get this: Lindsay went to bed at 7pm last night! Slept straight through until 7:30 this morning! What a crazy lady!

Thanks for stopping by!
