JunkieWednesday, March 20, 2002
How late have you been staying up this week Eric? Well, even though I've been tired as hell all week, I've been staying up til 1:30am. Unfortunately for Regular Eric, Video Game Junkie reared his ugly head and rented a PS2 with Metal Gear Solid 2 and Grand Theft Auto 3.
Back in the days, I had a regular PlayStation with Metal Gear Solid on it. Lindsay (Coolest Girlfriend Ever) absolutely loved Metal Gear. Loved it. It was so much fun to play it with her there. She'd keep track of where I needed to go and where I hadn't been yet (things I'm horrible at) freeing me up to worry about acting like an idiot (opening and shutting doors over and over again) and killing bad guys. Meanwhile she'd freak out at the "freak out" times and she'd get all giddy when I'd finally beat a mission. Fun times... Fun times. The fun times, friends, are back. Metal Gear Solid 2 is a pretty (pun!) solid game. Negatives? There are some helaciously long cinematic sequences during which I'm afraid to try and pause the game for fear of accidentally skipping the sequence and having no idea what's going on (what's going on). That is especially bad if you have to pee, having neglected this most basic human need for 2 hours more than you know you really should have because God Damn it, I'm in the middle of a mission... Also, I should try to not get so caught up in the game and go to bed earlier. I haven't delved into GTA3 yet... I plan on getting sucked into that game after tonight's Metal Gear 2 blowout extravaganza party time fun time thing time. Who wants to go to Death To Smoochy with me? I'm so excited for this movie. It looks like Robin Williams in a vintage Robin Williams type role -- you can tell he's going to be insane because he has no facial hair. That and he's wearing funny clothes (Mork alert!). March 29. I'm so there. Except for the fact that I'm in Vegas, you bastards. Eat it! Let's see... I can go to a decent movie... or I can go gamble or go to the Star Trek Experience or catch Ben Folds at the House of Blues or go get a lap dance or take in a show or drink or gamble or drink or gamble or drink or gamble... you get the basic idea. Hmmm... What to do, what to do. Gee, I'm pretty sure I'm picking Vegas excess on this option. That's a good idea, right? We'll see in a couple weeks... Thanks for stopping by again... Eric |
