Accentuate the...

I love getting things done on my house. I love it, I love it, I love it.

One of my favorite things about having Lindsay's parents up here to visit is that her Dad loves to help us out with our many house projects -- it's very cute.

During this particular visit, he did more tile work (which he is really good at) in our kitchen, did a lil bit of painting and got us started on taking down the Horrible Horrible Horrible wallpaper that resides in the stairway and the upstairs hallway.

This wallpaper, friends, is the most hideous pattern ever to be crapped onto a piece of vinyl and thrown on walls in houses all across America. Okay -- not across America -- I'm pretty sure that our house is the only house that has it. Other houses have rejected the wallpaper, the house immune system realizing this wallpaper should not be able to cohabitate with any house. Ever. It's that bad. And each house expells it out into the great beyond. Not ours. Noooo...

Our upstairs, newly freed from the wrath of the HHH wallpaper, already looks a dozen times better, and it's got some plaster work and paint here and there and not. Even in its current dilapidated state it's already better than it was with the wallpaper.

And just think -- it only took us 1 year and 4 months to get started on the Wallpaper Removal Project. Boy, we're zooming along.

On Sunday, I got to use my drill again. *giggle*

Ahem... I meant: *grunt*

I replaced an unsightful light fixture with a cute little modern ball looking fixture. All me. I'm such a grownup homeowner sometimes.

Later on, I got to drill the shit out of Linday's craft room closet to help her install a shelving system for her myriad of shipping supplies.

And sometimes the 12 year old in me pops up and uses phrases like "drilling the shit out of" and things of that nature. Actually, the 12 year old is in control most of the time.

But whew... We got a lot done on the house. Feels pretty good, too...

Tonight, I hope to erradicate the remainder of the HHH wallpaper (You're free, house! Free from the evil wrath of that ugly-ass wallpaper! Breathe walls! Breathe!) and install another light fixture.

We'll see though. I'm notoriously lazy. Then again, we all knew that anyway, didn't we?
