Crash? Best motion picture? of the year? You gotta be kidding me, academy. Let's just say that I disagree. Vehemently.
I thought it was plodding, the dialogue and plot were so incredibly strained and contrived. The acting? Seemed good. Good-ish. Little else about the movie was "good", though. Then again, Lindsay and I hated it so much that we stopped watching about 45 minutes in, something we very rarely do. That's how bad it was. Ch-Ch-Changes
Otherwise, I'm enjoying life at the moment. My poker game is really sharp. Getting lots of rest, for the first time in, oh, forever. Going to bed at 4am and getting up at noon. Or later. Depends on the day.
"That's not good for your job!", you say. Oh, rest your voice, my friend. You see, I don't have a job. "You don't have a job?!", you squeal. Yeah. I don't. I got laid off at the end of November. I worked for a 13 person shop and I got laid off.... over the telephone. With a pregnant wife. A few weeks before Christmas. With a severance package that didn't reach to Christmas. So that made me feel like the 5+ years I worked there were pretty special to them. Oh, also, this was right after we bought a new car for Lindsay, my pregnant wife. "WHAT???", you yell, all excited and shit. Oh. Right. My wife. She's pregnant! It's a girl. Due in Mid-May. We're quite excited. I've been using my time off to move my Den of the Future to it's new Spot of the Future (downstairs). Now I'm painting the baby's room. Yellow walls, green ceiling. Fun stuff! "New car?", you ask, disinterested. Yeah, Lindsay's Saturn was pooping out, for lack of a more descriptive sentence. So we bought a silver Pontiac G6 sedan. With the pimpy sunroof. It's niiiice. The only drawback, other than my no-longer-having-a-job, is that a week after we brought Lindsay's new car home, someone stole the snowblower from the back of our garage. Not only did they steal our snowblower, they made 2 giant scratches in the side of Lindsay's pretty new car on the way out with the snowblower. And a big scratch on my not-so-pretty Vue. So that was awesome. So, yeah. 2005? Not so good. In fact, 2005 can [expletive deleted] off. 2006? So far? Kicking ass. Love, *e |
